Coronavirus has only made our work more essential. We provide garden-based nutrition education and practical cooking instruction to help our friends and neighbors live healthier. We also work with congregations, communities, and schools to transform unused land in to productive, lovely gardens and orchards to provide fresh and nutritious food in areas of need across the six-county diocese. We believe in equal, affordable access to fresh produce and healthy food. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for many communities. As a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, we have the capacity to make a difference Through nutrition education, practical, hands-on cooking instruction, food distribution, and garden building, Seeds of Hope works to cultivate a culture of wellness in the Diocese of Los Angeles. Luckily, we get a lot of help in this work from amazing partners who share our passion for food justice , food recovery, and healthy living. The work we do isn't possible without an amazing network of support.

Because many of these people groups come from a different culture and language than Thai, they often find integration into Thai society very challenging. Many of these people are "stateless" meaning they have no citizenship in any country. The marginalized hilltribe people groups of Thailand struggle to integrate into the Thai society as their communities are located in remote and rugged locations, removed from close-proximity to public schools in the cities. Receiving even a basic education will help the Seed of Hope students to have a greater understanding of their world and give them a chance to become integrated citizens. Seed of Hope students are encouraged to take pride in their original culture and language and to continue learning from their village elders. Many cultures and communities are being lost in the wake of "urban migration" as marginalized people are moving to the cities in search of work.
